Safety for Santa…and your family

With Christmas fast approaching, Gas Safe Register is urging people to make sure Santa is safe shimmying down chimneys…

It’s not long until Santa comes down the chimney to deliver Christmas presents, and Gas Safe Register has identified cities across the UK that have homes with a large proportion of unsafe gas appliances, with Edinburgh, Birmingham, Norwich, Swindon and Ipswich topping the list, putting millions of families, and Santa, in danger.

December continues to be the time of year that Gas Safe Register finds the highest number of unsafe appliances in UK homes. In fact, an average of one in six (17%) boilers, fires and cookers have been investigated and found to be unsafe in December over the last five years. Unsafe gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fire, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning which can be fatal.

Gas Safe Register is urging families to ensure that they get their annual gas safety check by a Gas Safe registered engineer in time for the Christmas festivities so that they can enjoy the holidays knowing that their gas appliances are working safely and efficiently, and ensure Santa can deliver everyone’s pressies with peace of mind!
